Discovery is the function performed to to detect and populate the SIM inventory with the relevant infrastructure elements that exist in the IT environment.
The discovery function creates the asset lists including the location and configuration of all hardware and software assets that exist within an organisation, which when located, together with the data held on them can be analysed.
